Chip Shots: Golf – Bill Bass Open, UL’s Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament – limited space available

Dan McDonald, Daily Advertiser, Oct. 23, 2013

BASS OPEN: Playing spots are filling rapidly for the upcoming Bill Bass Open, UL’s annual Homecoming golf tournament that serves as a fund-raiser for the Cajun golf team and the Bill Bass Scholarship Fund.

The tournament is just over one week away on Friday, Nov. 1, at Les Vieux Chenes, and the four-person scramble for the first time will have morning and afternoon shotgun starts to alleviate the crowded conditions from last year’s successful event.

However, only a limited number of team slots remains in the afternoon session that begins at 1 p.m. on the Friday, and the newly-inaugurated morning session is nearing double-digit entries.

Entry fee is $125 per player or $500 per team, and players may make up their own four-person team or may enter as individuals to be paired up into teams. A team handicap index is used so that all teams will have a chance at the Cajun-themed prizes that will go to the winning squads.

Entry forms are now available at all local golf courses as well as several other golf-related outlets in the area, and entry forms may be obtained by calling 857-8754 or by e-mail at danmcdonald@cox.net.

In addition, a secure online entry form is available through the Alumni Association’s www.LouisianaAlumni.org web site by clicking on the “2013 Homecoming ‘Bill Bass Open’ Golf Tournament” line under Upcoming Events, and scrolling to the bottom and clicking “Click Here to Register.” Players may register and pay fees from their computers or mobile devices and save the trouble of mailing entry forms.
