Ann Rhodes Templeton Underwood

Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette for Ann Rhodes Templeton Underwood , age 74, who died unexpectedly at 8:45 AM on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Georgia.

Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Underwood III; two sons, James “Jim” Underwood IV and his wife Sarah, and John Peter “JP” Underwood; five grandchildren, Ann Katherine Underwood, Nicholas Lawson Underwood, Cameron Grant Underwood, Luke James Underwood and Emma Eve Underwood; one sister, Katherine Templeton Harkness and her husband, Daniel and two brothers, Lawson E. Templeton Jr. and his wife, Deronda and Brian S. Templeton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawson Templeton and the former, Katherine Keenan and one brother, Warren K. Templeton.

Ann Templeton Underwood was born on February 19, 1943 in Augusta, Georgia and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for many years. She was a very faithful and devout woman and was confirmed a catholic this year at Easter time. Mrs. Underwood loved her family and friends. She enjoyed her hobbies of painting, gardening, reading and baking. Mrs. Underwood retired from UL of Lafayette as an Administrative Assistant Office of the Provost and in the English Department. She was elected as Honorary Cadet Colonel at Academy of Richmond County in 1960. She was a DeMolay sweetheart in 1959-1960. She also worked in the Chancellor’s office at Indiana University, Bloomington. Mrs. Underwood worked a number of years in Banking at C&S National Banks in Georgia. She also volunteered at several Lafayette schools tutoring children for reading. Mrs. Underwood had an outstanding and impeccable character known by everyone who knew her.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church from 11:30 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann Underwood’s name to St. Pius X Catholic Church, P.O. Box 80489, Lafayette, LA 70598.
