Home Phone: -- Obituary: John Robinson Knox, Sr.- Aggie turned Ragin’ Cajuns Fan John Robinson Knox, Sr. LAFAYETTE – Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Episcopal Church of the Ascension for John Robinson Knox, Sr., age 83, who passed away on August 14, 2013 at his residence. Father Duane Peterson of Ascension Episcopal Church will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Knox, a resident of Youngsville, was the son of the late George P. Knox and the former Katherine Robinson Knox. John was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He was a graduate from Texas A&M University in 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the 1st Calvary Division as a Combat Engineer. When he returned from the war he went into the Oil and Gas Industry as a Petroleum Engineer in Lafayette, LA. Mr. Knox retired in 1985 after 30 plus years in the oilfield industry. He was a lifelong member of Ascension Church, and loved to play tennis with his “Buddies” at Beaver Park. He is survived by three sons, John Knox, Jr. and wife Marge of Tulsa, OK, George Knox and wife Sandie of Lafayette, LA and Willard Knox and his partner Christopher of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, Tim, Ashley, Amy, David, Danielle, Rob, Jack, and Alex; his fiancee, Joy Viator; and his former wife, Janet Viguerie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, George P. Knox. A reception to welcome friends of Mr. Knox will be held in the Owen Room at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension at 2:00 pm until the time of service.
