Jackie’s Living Memorial for Coach Bob Cole’s tribute is followed by some of his outstanding accomplishments in Track & Field. Posted on Sept. 27, 2017 by Dr. Ed Dugas.

Coach Cole was a great coach, a master motivator, and a true friend. I feel fortunate to have had the privilege to be a member of his Track & Field teams at USL.

There are so many wonderful memories of the experiences that were shared with a great group of guys and our coach.

Coach Cole had a thorough knowledge of the various events in Track & Field and the training techniques for each of them.

He also had a gift for connecting with each of his athletes and knew how to motivate each of us individually.

He somehow managed to find the funding to make sure that we had the best equipment available, and saw to it that we were able to travel to compete in some of the top track & field meets in the country.

Coach Cole was also a great promoter. During his tenure as coach at USL, the Southwestern Relays was recognized as one of the largest track & field meets in the South, drawing teams from all around the country.

He was a gifted story teller and had a great sense of humor. I am proud to be a member of Bob Cole’s Ragin’ Cajun Track & Field Team.
