Athletics: Ragin’ Cajuns Announce Spring 2014 Graduating ClassLAFAYETTE Thirty-seven Louisiana Ragin Cajuns student-athletes were part of a school-record 1,615 graduates to earn degrees as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette held Spring 2014 Commencement ceremonies on Saturday.
Kristen Armstrong, a four-year letterwinner for the Ragin Cajuns volleyball team, was named the University s Outstanding Graduate for the College of General Studies. Armstrong carried a 3.89 grade point average in general studies with a concentration in applied sciences and was named one of the University s Student-Athletes of the Year for 2012-13.
Baseball had six members earn their degree, including current letterwinners Tyler Girouard, Seth Harrison, Matt Hicks and Matt Plitt. Hicks earned two degrees from the University in Biology and Chemistry.
Softball saw five members earn degrees including current letterwinners Natalie Fernandez, Christina Hamilton and Shelbi Redfearn. The Ragin Cajuns football team had five players from the 2013 Sun Belt Conference championship team John Broussard, Will Burrowes, Andre Huval, Daniel Lemelle and Brandon Nash earn degrees while Kevin Brown and Elridge Moore represented the Ragin Cajuns Sun Belt Conference champion men s basketball team.
Rick de Groot and Elliot Minvielle, members of the Sun Belt Conference men s tennis championship team, each earned their respective degrees along with current men s track and field standouts Albert Fournette and Michael Vani and women s track letterwinner Brittany Blunt.
