I will always remember Coach Cole for his dedication to the sport. He would always tell us in team meetings that his training method was to prepare us to compete and to prepare us for life. He woulds say “Life isn’t easy, so my workouts will not be easy. I am preparing you to be productive men when you graduate.”

He was also a good motivator. “Let’s roll” was how he started every practice.

I won the 1500 meters and set a school record at the Southland Conference Championship in my senior year. I can still hear him cheering me on “Come on Pap, go get “em.”

The Mortgage Link is a full service residential mortgage brokerage and insurance agency. The owners are Gervy and Vanessa Papion. The company’s target market is current homeowners, small business owners, and individuals in the purchasing new/existing homes.

The company began in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 9, 2000. The Mortgage Link re-located its headquarters to Lafayette, Louisiana in September 2005 after Hurricane Katrina devastated the owner’s personal residence and office.

Since the hurricanes, The Mortgage Link has re-built stronger and better, with 12 employees servicing clients in three locations. The company’s corporate office is in Lafayette with two satellite offices in Lake Charles and New Orleans. Future locations include Alexandria, La. and Mississippi.
