Baseball: Bazar Named To Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team
TUCSON, Ariz. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns freshman reliever Reagan Bazar became the fourth player in program history to earn Freshman All-American honors as he was named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced on Wednesday.
“I’m really proud of what Reagan has done this season and think that his future is bright,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “He has worked very hard to be the player that he is today. This is great honor for both him and the program. When you are named one of the best in the nation in anything, it means that you have done something good. This is a great start to his career here in Lafayette.”
A native of Salado, Texas, Bazar has recorded a 4-0 record with six saves in 24 appearances. Bazar boasts a 2.32 ERA this season with 19 strikeouts in 31 innings and has limited opponents to a .221 batting average.
Bazar joins current teammate Blake Trahan on the list of players to earn the honor. Jonathan Lucroy and Andy Gros were also named Freshman All-Americans.
The Ragin’ Cajuns return to action this weekend starting Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host Ole Miss in a best-of-three super regional at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.
