I have been dancing since the age of 2 1/2and am a graduate of Gerami Academy of Fine Arts where I was a member of Classical Connections Ballet Company and Jazz Extensions. I graduated from Lafayette High and was on the dance team for 4 years serving as Captain my senior year. We competed nationally all 4 years and placed 5th my Sophomore year. I was a UDA All-Star my senior year making me eligible to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

I am a Kinesiology major with a concentration in Health Promotion and Wellness and am a member of the Kinesiology Professional Association (KPA) and Louisiana Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (LAHPERD). I am a Delta Delta Delta Sorority Alumni. I am a third year member of the Ragin’ Jazz Dance Team having served as Secretary. I was also a member of the Diamond Darlings and Association of Future Alumni (AFA).

I have been honored to hold the title of “Miss University of Louisiana” for 2007-2008 and placed in the “Top 15” at the Miss Louisiana, USA pageant.

I was chosen to serve as the 2009 University of Louisiana Homecoming Queen.

Homecoming Court Chosen

Lafayette native Natalie Ann Camel has been named the 2009 UL Homecoming Queen. Camel is the daughter of Donald and Susan Camel and she was nominated by Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. A senior in kinesiology with a concentration in health promotion and wellness, Camel maintains a 3.0 grade point average.

Camel has been a member of the Ragin’ Jazz for the past three years and has served as its secretary. She is also a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and has served as its secretary and Yell Like Hell Coordinator. Camel represented the university as Miss UL and finished in the top 15 in 2007’s Miss Louisiana competition.

“Being on the Homecoming Court is an experience I will never forget,” Camel said in a release. “Representing the university as a whole is honestly the most rewarding experience that I have ever had. The opportunity of being on the court is the pinnacle of my Ragin’ Cajun experience.”

Maids of the court are Laura Bullinger, Lindsey LaJack, Patricia McLain and Bridget Meaux.

Laura Nicole Bullinger is a senior majoring in public relations with a minor in secondary education. Her parents are Matthew and Karen Bullinger of Illinois. She was nominated by the Student Government Association where she serves as vice-president.

Bullinger holds a 3.78 grade point average and is the vice-president of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.

Lindsey M. LaJack, daughter of Kim and Sonny LaJack of Opelousas, is a senior majoring in accounting. She was nominated by her sorority, Tri Delta and maintains a 3.576 grade point average. She has been an active member of Sigma Alpha Lambda since 2006 and the Accounting Society since 2008. LaJack has served her sorority for several years as skit chairman, academic chairman and is currently serving as president.

Patricia Ann McLain is the daughter of Allen and Laura McLain of Abbeville. She was nominated by Student Dietetic Association and maintains a 3.8 GPA as a senior majoring in dietetics. She has been named to the Dean’s Lists for past six semesters.

McLain is vice president of Chapter Development of Delta Delta Delta sorority and has also been member development chairman, licensing chairman and sponsor chairmen. McLain was a cheerleader from 2006-08 and has also volunteered for St. Jude Research Hospital.

Bridget Jin Meaux is the daughter of Shooky and Donnie Meaux of Abbeville. Meaux holds a 3.36 grade point average as a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a biology emphasis and a math minor. She was nominated by Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Meaux is a Ragin’ Cajun cheerleader and nationals team member and is involved with the Student Government Association where she serves as the president of the College of Engineering. She is also president of the Louisiana Engineering Society and is a member of the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band and the UL Symphonic Band.

Ragin’ Jazz: Camel in Athlon Sports Spirit Contest

Meet Natalie Camel

Nashville, Tenn. – Athlon Sports has selected Natalie Camel from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to represent her school, community and the Non-BCS category in round three of this year’s contest. Voting for round three will begin on Saturday, October 10th at 12:00am and will run through 11:59pm on Friday, October 30th. Those wishing to vote must have an Athlon Sports account. Voting is limited to 20 times per day per account.

The Athlon Sports Sideline SpiritTM Contest is entering its seventh year and has proven to be one of the most popular programs on our website. At least thirty two spirit contestants from across the country will be chosen to participate in this contest, which runs from the beginning of the college football season in September until the bowl season starts in December.

We break up the program into four rounds, featuring seven cheerleaders or dancers in each round (one from each BCS conference and one non-BCS representative). Visitors to our website get the opportunity to show their school spirit by voting for their favorite spirit contestant. Lively message boards bring out the very best in school spirit and the rivalry of college sports. At the conclusion of the regular season, spirit contestants will advance to our championship round. They can advance to the championship round by either obtaining the most votes in her round OR securing the most votes in her conference. The winner of the championship round is titled the overall winner of the contest.

The winner will be featured in the 2010 Athlon Sports College Football annuals and her squad will receive $2,000, plus a JVC HD Everio Camera and a JVC Micro System with iPod dock!

Natalie is a senior from Lafayette, Louisiana. She is a 3rd year member of the Ragin’ Jazz and was a 4 year member of the Lafayette High Dance Team. Natalie is a member of the Kinesiology Professional Association, Association of Future Alumni and a Tri Delta Alum. In 2008 Natalie was crowned Miss UL and represented the University at the Miss Louisiana USA pageant. She enjoys performing at football games and pep rallies and has been dancing for most of her life. Most recently, Natalie was selected as the 2009 UL Homecoming Queen and will be presented at halftime of the homecoming games on October 24.
