Breaking Sports news: UL softball lands Texas Tech transfer

Montana Patin, a right fielder from Texas Tech, told The Daily Advertiser on Saturday night she will transfer to play softball at UL as a fifth-year senior next season.

The Lake Charles native grew up in Vinton before her family moved to Houston when she was 12.

Patin, who redshirted as a freshman at Tech, will earn her undergraduate degree at the school on Aug. 9. On Aug. 10, she arrives at UL, where she will pursue a masterï¿½s degree in communications.

ï¿½Louisiana is definitely home,ï¿½ said Patin, whose uncle is a UL graduate. ï¿½Iï¿½m ready to get back to the Cajun culture.ï¿½

Patin hit .321 with seven home runs and 44 RBIs last season for Tech, leading the team in homers, RBIs and walks. She earned second team all-Big 12 honors and was an academic all-conference selection.
