After changing positions and bulking up about 40 pounds, the senior has emerged over the past two seasons as one of the top tight ends in the Sun Belt Conference. Including a 10-yard touchdown reception in last week’s 42-19 win over Southern University, the Breaux Bridge native and former Teurlings Catholic standout has made four scoring catches in the past seven games dating back to last season. Aubrey’s three receiving touchdowns last year ranked among the best in the league. Earlier in the week, Aubrey took time to answer some questions from The Daily Advertiser as Big 12 school Kansas State comes to town Saturday. How have you become such a big offensive threat recently? It’s just been a drive to succeed. I’ve always heard about potential, potential, potential. But potential will get you beat. You actually have to apply it. You have to work hard and strive to be better. I’ve always listened to my coaches, but now I’m really starting to see what the coaches are talking about. What did you think about last week’s record crowd at Cajun Field? The crowd was ridiculous. We had that (a big crowd) against McNeese (State two years ago). It was a real nice crowd. I’m normally a calm and collected guy, but it really excited me. I liked it a lot. Hopefully, we can keep it going for the rest of the season. Do you have any unusual superstitions? I cut my hair every Friday. That’s one. And I eat at Texas Roadhouse every Thursday night. Since I was younger, I always heard that you play (Saturday) based on the meal you eat Thursday night. It’s almost always pulled pork. That gets the job done. What is your favorite Cajun meal? I’d definitely have to say crawfish fettuccine. I’m from Breaux Bridge, which is the crawfish capital, so eating crawfish has been instilled in me. What is your ultimate goal for the future? If a future in football presents itself, I’m going to aim for that. But you always have to have a back-up plan. My major is merchandising with a minor in marketing. I’m leaning toward the marketing venture. Everything deals with marketing. That can lead to something in fashion. I’m also going to work on my MBA. Injury report Three players are out offensive linemen Colin Windsor (knee), Nasser Jamal (knee) and Sean Osborne (shoulder). Wide receiver Richie Falgout (ankle) and defensive tackle LaQuincy Williams (Achilles) are both doubtful. There are nine Cajuns listed as probable. That includes five starters running back Undrea Sails (clavicle), linebacker Antwyne Zanders (shoulder), wide receivers Louis Lee (shoulder) and Marlin Miller (hip) and free safety Maurice Rolle Jr. (neck/shoulder). The other probable players are wide receiver Vernon Wolfe (arm), defensive end Chris Lanaux (shoulder), defensive lineman Jordan Topp (ankle) and wide receiver Ross Goodlett (leg). Beer is back Sodexo was set to serve beer last weekend but decided to wait until getting answers to some last-minute questions.
