Home Phone: -- Graduate Assistant Football Coach in 1987 & 1988; part-time in 1989; 1990-1991 and 1996-1998 on the Stokley staff. * * * * * * * * * * Former Football: First and Ten with OC coach Jeff Jordan (UL Assistant Coach 1987-98) Daily Advertiser, October 13, 2010 Opelousas Catholic interim head coach Jeff Jordan is in his second week as head coach of the Vikings. Jordan became the Vikings’ leader when former coach Doug Guillory resigned a week ago on Monday. 1. Tell us about your coaching career? Where did you start? It started in 1987 at UL. I was a graduate assistant under coach Nelson Stokley in 1987 and 88 and a part-time assistant in ’89. After that, I went full-time, coaching offensive line, tackles, tight ends. I spent some time in the weight room and then back to the field from 96-98. After USL, I moved to Baton Rouge and coached with Edwin Sheridan at Central Private. I also coached at St. Amant and East St. John with Larry Dauterive for the 2008 season. I came to OC in 2009. 2. What about your playing career? I went to Lee High School in Baton Rouge. I signed a scholarship in 1981 with Southern Miss. I played there, then came back to Baton Rouge and played at LSU from 1984-85 under Arnsparger. I was an offensive lineman, a letterman, but certainly not a household name. When I was a senior at LSU, I was penciled in as the starter at center when I pulled my hamstring. They plugged this young guy in my spot named Nacho Albergamo. So, they moved me to guard and there was this other guy there named Eric Andolsek. 3. How did you end up at Opelousas Catholic? That’s a long story, but I’ll give you the abridged version. My wife is in pharmaceutical sales, she’s the bread-winner in our household. She was transferred back to this area and I go where she goes. I talked to Doug (Guillory) and he gave me a shot. For an entire year, I commuted from St. Amant to Opelousas while we waited for our house to be sold. 4. What got you into coaching? When I graduated form LSU, I was looking for a position in sales. I looked here and there, and nothing seemed to fit. So I said, ‘Go back to what got you here, try to make a living coaching football.’ Out of the blue, I gave Nelson (Stokley) a call. He needed an offensive line GA and I haven’t looked back since. I can’t see myself doing anything else.
