Originally posted February 2, 2007 D. J. Hebert turned in a second-place finish in the men’s 5,000-meter run to top UL’s performers in the Houston Invitational indoor track and field meet held Saturday at the University of Houston. Hebert had a 15:53.27 time, trailing only Rice’s Andrew Zykowski (15:49.71) with both runners finishing more than six seconds ahead of the field. UL teammate Brandon Orso was sixth in 16:12.14 for UL’s other top place in the meet. Kyle Ward finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.33 after an 8.22 preliminary time and Stacey Fuller was 10th in the men’s 400-meter dash in 49.97. Casey Brown led the UL women’s squad with an eighth-place finish in the 5000-meter run in 19:23.06, with the Cajuns putting four finishers in the top 14 in that event. Toni Lee finished ninth in the long jump at 18-4 1/2 and the women’s distance medley relay team was ninth in 13:05.34.
