Home Phone: 337-989-9504 Email From John Daigle, Dec. 16, 2005 I wanted to inform you that James R. “Jim” Robert passed away on December 12, 2005 after a long battle with emphysema and complications. Jimmy played on the SLI golf team with me for three years (1953, 54, 55). James R. “Jim” Robert LAFAYETTE – Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings for James R. “Jim” Robert, 72, who died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The Rev. George McLaughlin will conduct the service. Mr. Robert was a native and former resident of Jennings and was residing in Lafayette at the time of his death. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany at the time of the Korean War. He was a notary public and for many years served on the board of directors of the Jennings Golf Club. Mr. Robert enjoyed golf and was an avid reader, especially enjoying reading history. In 1997 he received a Master of Science degree from ULL, at the time it was known as USL. He was a four-year letterman in golf at USL, then known as SLI, and a former club champion of the Jennings Golf Club. For a time, he held the course record at the Jennings Country Club. He coached youth sports for ten years. He was a long-time general manager of Holston Well Service Inc. and was also president of CRC Holston Inc. He later managed Pool-Holston Inc. and Moncla Well Service Inc. Visitation will be observed from noon until 9 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of service. There will be words of comfort and friendship at 7 p.m. this evening by Judge William Knight in the funeral home. Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings, (337) 824-4420, is in charge of arrangements.
