Home Phone: 318-335-1227 Obituary: Evelyn Gates Holladay – Red Jacket 1941-43 – August 6, 2014 Evelyn Gates Holladay 09/04/21 – 08/06/14 Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Gates Holladay will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014 in the Rush Chapel, Oakdale. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Oakdale under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mrs. Holladay, 92, of Oakdale pasted away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joel Holladay; her parents, Martin Luther and Indie Corley Gates; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Paul Duett and step daughter, Marion Bond. She is survived by her daughters: Loree Gordon and husband Bobby of Oakdale and Kay Simpson and husband Bill of Thibodaux, and by her step family in Pennsylvania, Donna Wagner and husband Carl and Edward Bond; ten grandchildren: Cory Gordon and wife Andrea, Kerry Brumback and husband Cliff, Casey Gordon, Brian and Jared Simpson, Eddie John, Matthew and Marion Bond, Joell and husband Rep and Jeremy Coxe and wife Nicole; thirteen great-grandchildren: Cade and Haidee Gordon, Tyler and Alex Brumback, Breanna Benoit, Trevor Thompson, Brooklyn Gordon, EJ and Crista Bond, Nicholas and Jacob Bond, Ryan and Abby Coxe. Evelyn was a lifetime member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church for over fifty years. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe or Dry Creek Baptist Camp in Dry Creek.
