Baseball: Cajuns Baseball Sets New Season Ticket Record – Baseball, Softball Tickets Available
LAFAYETTE, La. – For the second straight season, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team has set a new season ticket record as 2,763 season tickets have been sold heading into the 2016 campaign, Director of Athletics Scott Farmer announced on Wednesday.
"This is a testament to head coach Tony Robichaux and his staff for developing an incredible collegiate baseball program," Farmer said. "Our fans recognize the quality student-athletes that Coach Robichaux and his staff have recruited, and their loyal support has helped create one of the best atmospheres in all of college baseball. With our recent history of hosting Regionals and Super Regionals, and the upcoming stadium renovations, we are thankful for our fans who have continued their support by purchasing season tickets."
The 2,763 tickets sold breaks the previous mark of 2,758 set last year. Prior to that, the most season tickets sold in a season was in 2011 when fans purchased a record of 2,365 season tickets.
"Players say it over and over again that they sign to play here because of the atmosphere," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "That atmosphere is created by the fans that we have here. They are extremely loyal and keep coming out year after year and create an atmosphere here that can’t be replicated. Our fans are the backbone of this program, and our players and coaches can’t thank them enough for their support over the years. This record is even more impressive considering the fact that people are facing tough times economically and some people are losing their jobs. Now as players and coaches, we have to go out and back up the support that our fans have given us."
There are still season tickets available in both the first and third base bleachers at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field, and with the removal of light poles in the bleacher sections, fans will have better sightlines to watch games.
Fans interested can purchase tickets either by going online to RaginCajuns.com, by stopping by the Cajundome Box Office, or by calling (337) 265-2100.
Louisiana has ranked in the top 15 in attendance nationally three of the last five seasons coming in at the No. 11 spot a year ago in average attendance with an average of 3,908 fans in attendance in 2015.
The Cajuns open the 2016 slate on Friday, February 19 at 6 p.m. as they host Sam Houston State in the first of three games at "The Tigue". Louisiana will host 28 games in 2016 including five conference series.

LAFAYETTE, La. – With the start of the 2016 baseball season a little over a month away, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns athletic department announced on Wednesday that season tickets are now on sale to the general public.
“This is an exciting part of the year for us because we are finally getting ready for the start of the season with practice starting next Wednesday,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “The one thing that our players play for at the end of the day is our fans. We have one of the best fan bases in the country. One of the best ways to support our baseball program is to buy season tickets, and to come sit in the stands and support these players that work very hard.”
The only remaining season tickets are located in the bleachers down the first and third base lines. Tickets are $125 for the 28-game home schedule and can be purchased at the Cajundome Box Office, over the phone at (337) 265-2100 or online at RaginCajuns.com.
Fans who purchase season tickets will have the benefit of a reserved seat at every home game, the ability to purchase tickets at a cheaper price than individual game tickets, and will receive priority access to any NCAA postseason games hosted at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.
“We are No. 6 in the nation right now, so we have a big bulls eye on our back this season,” Robichaux added. “More than ever we need as many fans as we can to help keep us there. On behalf of our players and coaches, we thank everyone who has already purchased season tickets. Our fans keep us in the top 15 every year in attendance. I can’t say enough about our fan base. One of the reasons that we sign the guys that we do is because of the atmosphere here during games. The one thing that makes it that way is our fans.”
The Ragin’ Cajuns have been ranked in the top 15 in attendance nationally three of the last five seasons coming in at the No. 11 spot a year ago in average attendance.
The Cajuns host notable non-conference games against Sam Houston State, Tulane and Louisiana Tech as well as conference series against Little Rock, Georgia State, Texas State, Appalachian State and ULM.
“We appreciate the investment that people are making in us,” Robichaux said. “We know it’s a difficult time right now with the oil industry. Hopefully we can bring good entertainment, win a championship and get back to the College World Series.”
