Track and Field: Baudoin, Hrusoci Pace Cajuns At SLU Lion Invitational
Woodhouse records third-best throw in discus in school history
Final Results
HAMMOND – Freshman Kyle Baudoin cleared 17 feet in the men’s pole vault for the second time this season and Alena Hrusoci posted the fifth-best time in school history in the women’s 400-meter hurdles to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team at the Southeastern Lion Invitational on Saturday at the SLU Track and Field Complex. Jasmine Fusilier turned in three top-5 performances for Louisiana while Bartul Basic and Morgan Cormier each turned in second-place performances for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Baudoin, who recorded a season-best mark of 17-5 at the Texas Relays, finished second overall after clearing the bar at 17-4 ½ – the fifth-best mark in school history. Basic added a second-place finish for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the men’s javelin with a throw of 201-9 while Cormier turned in a time of 53.87 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish second. Hrusoci earned a pair of top-3 performances for Louisiana as she finished third overall in the 100-meter hurdles (14.14) before crossing the finish line in 1:00.79 to finish second overall in the 400-meter hurdles. Fusilier earned a second-place performance in the long jump (18-5) for the Ragin’ Cajuns before finishing fourth overall in both the triple jump (38-2) and 100-meter hurdles (14.25). Hailey Hesterman finished third overall in the 3,000-meter run (10:51.12) for Louisiana with Kayla Thompson turning in a time of 12.11 to finish fifth overall in the 100-meter dash. Alexandra Harrell earned a third-place finish in the women’s high jump (5-5) for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Lindsey Harmon (5-3) finishing seventh. Tisay Woodhouse was third overall in the women’s discus, recording the third-best mark in school history (146-4) with Amie Leitko finishing sixth (141-5). Hunter Stelly placed fourth overall in the men’s javelin (190-11) for Louisiana with Cody Nickel (177-8) and Josh Cecil (167-8) finishing seventh and ninth, respectively. Richard Delphin added three top-10 finishes for the Ragin’ Cajuns, finishing seventh in the hammer throw (172-10), ninth in the shot put (46-11 ½) and ninth in the discus (146-4). Dionte Heath earned a sixth-place finish for Louisiana in the high jump (6-4 ¾). Sean Bezdek turned in a fourth-place finish in the men’s 3,000-meter run (9:06.55) for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Christian Bergeron finishing fifth in the 800-meter run (1:57.18) and Bismarck Ebiweh finishing sixth in the 200-meter dash (21.71) and eighth in the 100-meters (10.75). Cormier added a sixth-place finish for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the 110-meter hurdles (15.07) with Beau Robinson finishing eighth overall in the 1,500-meter run (4:03.54). Louisiana will return to action on April 23 when it competes at the LSU Alumni Gold meet at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
