Baseball: Cajuns Announce 2016 Summer Baseball Assignments

LAFAYETTE, La. – Following its fourth straight NCAA Regional appearance and 40-win season, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball program has kicked off preparations for the 2017 season with nine players on summer assignments, head coach Tony Robichaux announced on Wednesday.

Sophomore Gunner Leger highlights the players that will compete this summer as he will join the Wareham Gatemen of the prestigious Cape Cod league.

The Cajuns will send three players to the Alaska Baseball League with Steven Sensley, Hunter Kasuls and Logan Stoelke assigned to the Anchorage Bucs.

Five other Ragin’ Cajuns are on assignment this summer with Jack Burk playing for the Nevada Griffons in the MINK League and Ishmael Edwards joining the Brockton Rox in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Jacob Norman will pitch for the Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plains League, while Jam Williams and Dylon Poncho competing for the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the Texas League.

Following the completion of the collegiate summer season, Louisiana players will return to campus for the fall semester in late August to continue preparations for 2017. The Cajuns closed out the 2016 season with a 43-21 record and are one of only five programs in the nation to reach the 40-win plateau in each of the last four years joining Florida State, LSU, Louisville and Vanderbilt.
