Soccer: Montoya Named Sun Belt Offensive Player Of The Week

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns senior forward Yazmin Montoya was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in a release by the conference office on Tuesday. Montoya led Louisiana (6-5-1, 2-1-1 SBC) with one goal against Georgia Southern and one goal against Troy. In a 2-0 victory over Georgia Southern last Friday, Montoya had a shot from 30 yards out that was placed into the top right corner of the goal. In a 3-2 double overtime win over Troy last Sunday, Montoya took a pass off a free kick and scored her fourth goal of the season. Montoya added an assist on Erika Sierra’s game-winning goal in the 103rd minute. Montoya is the all-time points leader for the Ragin’ Cajuns with 64 points in her career at Louisiana.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 30 when they host Texas State in a 7 p.m. match at the Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
