Men’s Tennis: Ragin’ Cajuns Kramarov and Dolan Capture Doubles ChampionshipLAFAYETTE – Vlad Kramarov and Pearse Dolan teamed up to earn a doubles win for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team in the finals of the Battle on the Bayou at the Culotta Tennis Center. Kramarov and Dolan defeated South Alabama’s Tuki Jacobs and Clement Marzol 6-3 in the finals. Kramarov and Dolan knocked off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Cagatay Sami-Soke and Biyik Akinshemoyin 6-4 in the semifinals. “It was the first time Kramarov and Dolan have played together and they won three matches in a row,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “I couldn’t be more happy for those guys.” Louisiana’s Coleman Wahlborg and Eric Perez dropped a 3-6 decision to Jacobs and Marzol in the semifinals. In singles, Wahlborg advanced to the finals of Flight 1 where he fell to Jacobs, 3-6, 2-6. Wahlborg defeated South Alabama’s Juan Cruz Soria 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 in the semifinals. “That takes an extreme amount of character to be able to pull those matches out at the most important times,” Jeffrey said of Wahlborg. “He lost in the final today, but I think he can look at this tournament as a whole as a success for sure.” Kramarov dropped a 5-7, 3-6 decision to Jacobs in the semifinals of Flight 1. Kramarov fell to Cruz Soria, 3-6, 2-6 in the third place match. In Flight 2, Louisiana’s Jamie Fraser fell in the finals to Morzol, 1-6, 2-6. Fraser defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ‘s Chad Nguyen 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals. “Overall, I think the guys did well,” Jeffrey said. “The main thing out of this was match play. They came in at a certain level and we left this tournament at a higher level.” Louisiana will continue its fall schedule next week in the ITA Southern Regional on Oct. 14-17 in Auburn, Ala.
