Soccer: Soccer Ties Coastal Carolina in Regular Season Finale, 2-2

Conway, S.C. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns soccer team tied Coastal Carolina, 2-2 in two overtimes on Sunday afternoon at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

Louisiana (8-8-2, 4-4-2 SBC) scored first in the 9th minute when senior Carly Ellender shot the ball off a deflection from a
throw in by junior Ashleigh Cade.

Coastal Carolina (10-5-3, 6-2-2 SBC) answered in the 36th minute when Daniella Famili scored on a penalty kick.

The Chanticleers scored again in the 65th minute when Brenna Leftwich’s shot found the back of the net. Heston Neal was
credited with the assist.

The Ragin’ Cajuns evened the match in the 68th minute when senior Natalie Newman scored off a deflection on a free kick by senior Yazmin Montoya.

Louisiana sophomore goalkeeper Cosette Morché recorded five saves in the match while Coastal goalkeeper Becca Austin had one save.

 "Our girls played their hearts out today on the road," head coach Scot Wieland said. "It’s been a long trip for them and the point today was well earned. I’m very proud of their effort."

Louisiana will play next in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Nov. 2-6 at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.
