Track & Field: Baudoin, Whitehall Pace Ragin’ Cajuns At LSU Bayou Bengal

BATON ROUGE – Kyle Baudoin and Tristan Whitehall each posted second-place finishes in their respective events while Lindsay LaGarde set a personal-best in the women’s 800-meter run to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns indoor track and field team at the LSU Bayou Bengal on Friday at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
 
Alexa Johnson and Meredith Driskell each posted third-place finishes in the women’s pole vault with freshman Damon Guidry finishing fourth in the men’s high jump (6-7 ½) in leading the Ragin’ Cajuns in their fourth indoor event of the season.
 
Baudoin cleared the bar on his second attempt at 16-6 ½ to finish second overall with teammate Matt Wilson finishing fourth at 15-6 ½. Whitehall posted a mark of 54-9 ½ in the men’s shot put to finish second while teammate Spencer Nezat placing ninth after posting a throw of 47-1.
 
Richard Delphin was one of three Ragin’ Cajuns to finish in the top-12 of the men’s weight throw as his personal-best throw of 57-3 was fifth overall. Landon Carroll (47-7 ¼) was eighth overall for Louisiana with Brad Harp (44-11 ¾) 12th.
 
Ricky Theyard (45-11 ¾) finished eighth overall in the men’s triple jump and 11th in the long jump (21-7 ¼) for Louisiana while Franz Beyer was 10th in the long jump (21-9).
 
Dylan Heck led Louisiana in the men’s mile run, clocking a time of 4:28.94 to finish sixth overall with Jacob Chicola seventh (4:29.49). In the men’s 800-meter run, Cole Stafford posted the top time for the Ragin’ Cajuns, finishing in 2:00.99.
 
LaGarde, who set her previous personal-best in the 800-meters (2:19.10) at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, crossed the finish line in 2:17.89 in finishing third overall. LaGarde also ran a leg of the Ragin’ Cajuns distance medley relay team that finished third (13:06.64).
 
The Ragin’ Cajuns women’s 4×400-meter relay team capped off the night, finishing fifth overall (4:03.62).
 
Johnson and Driskell each cleared the bar at 11-9 ¾ to finish third overall with former Ragin’ Cajuns All-American Morgann Leleux posting a first-place mark of 14-7 ¼. Freshman Kimberly Rushford earned a fifth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 11-3 ¾.
 
In the women’s triple jump, Lindsey Darby earned an eighth-place finish (36-2) with Amie Leitko finishing ninth overall in the women’s weight throw (53-6 ½).
 
Louisiana will return to action on Friday when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., to compete at the Samford Invitational and Multi at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
