Baseball:Cajuns Baseball Sets New Attendance Record For Third Consecutive Season

LAFAYETTE, La. – The three-time defending Sun Belt Tournament champion Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team has set a new record for season ticket sales for the third straight year, breaking the 2016 mark by over 500 season tickets, Interim Director of Athletics Jessica Leger announced on Tuesday.

"We’re honored to have set yet another season ticket record," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "I can’t say enough about how great our fans truly are. Something like this means a lot to our program, and I know the players and staff really appreciate our fans for stepping up to the plate during a time that has been tough economically. We are going to make every effort to put a product on the field that our fans will be proud of."

Currently, M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park is at capacity and season tickets sales have been suspended due to current construction. As the stadium reaches completion and more inventory becomes available, season ticket sales will resume.

Fans that would still like to purchase season tickets may put in their request now by emailing the Cajundome Box Office at ultickets@cajundome.com. All requests will be filled using the RCAF Priority Point system based on donations made prior to Feb. 24, 2017.

"We don’t anticipate having to turn away fans with the fact that we still have single game tickets available," Leger said. "We encourage season ticket holders who are not planning on attending games to return those tickets to the Cajundome Box Office or use the Ticketmaster Ticket Exchange which is available through their Account Manager."

Additional seating will also be brought into Russo Park to accommodate as many fans as possible. More information will be provided as soon as it is available via RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana opens the 2017 season on Friday at 6 p.m. at Southeastern Louisiana. The 2017 home opener is slated for March 3-5 at Russo Park against Southern Miss.
