Men’s Basketball: Louisiana Honors 2016-17 Squad At Annual Banquet

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team held its annual award dinner on April 5 at City Club River Ranch as the players, coaches and fans celebrated the Ragin’ Cajuns third 20-win season in the past four years.

Senior guard Jay Wright was named the MVP Award that was presented by University President Dr. Joseph Savoie. Wright, who was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America Team, was also the recipient of the Ragin’ Cajuns Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Junior forward Bryce Washington was selected as the Rebounder of the Year after finishing in seventh nationally in rebounds (11.2), fifth in offensive rebounds per game (4.00) and sixth in double doubles (22). Washington also took home the team’s Academic Achievement Award.

Junior guard Johnathan Stove was the recipient of the Beryl Shipley Leadership Award.
