Men’s Tennis: Libaud Named To All-Louisiana Collegiate Men’s Tennis Team

HAMMOND – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis player Arthur Libaud picked up more postseason honors when he was named to the 2017 All-Louisiana Collegiate Men’s Tennis Team on Sunday.
 
The 2017 LSWA All-Louisiana Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams were selected by the state’s sports information directors. SID’s were not allowed to vote for their school’s student-athletes.
 
Libaud, from Les Chenivieres, France, was named to the honorable mention squad after finishing as the Ragin’ Cajuns leader in singles victories (16) and second in doubles wins (18). The second-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in both singles and doubles finished 14-7 overall in dual matches, including a 9-5 mark at No. 1 singles.
 
The sophomore, who was the 2016 LSWA Freshman of the Year, capped off a successful season with a three-set win over ITA No. 84-ranked Zackery Kennedy of Georgia State in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament while teaming with freshman Jamie Fraser to post a 16-4 record in doubles that was highlighted by a victory over New Mexico State’s regionally-ranked tandem of Mauri Benitez and Stijn de Haan.
 
Tulane placed three members on the first team and claimed three of the four awards. Constantin Schmitz was named the LSWA Men’s Player of the Year with Ewan Moore named LSWA Freshman of the Year and Mark Booras Coach of the Year. Catalin Fifea of Xavier was named the LSWA Newcomer of the Year.
 
On the All-Louisiana Collegiate Women’s Tennis Team, LSU freshman Jade Lewis claimed both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. Stefana Andrei of ULM was named the LSWA Newcomer of the Year with Terrence De Jongh named LSWA Coach of the Year.
