Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame: 90-minute TV show recap debuts Friday, Sunday on CST in 14 statesLOUISIANA SPORTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION AND COX SPORTS TV COMBINE TO TELEVISE LA. SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR THE 15TH TIME NATCHITOCHES – The Louisiana Sports Writers Association and Cox Sports Television have joined forces again to present the highlights of the 2017 induction weekend for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame with the 90-minute telecast premiering Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. CT on CST, and also airing Sunday evening at 6:30 as the first of almost two dozen showings in July and August. Like the June 24 induction ceremony, the TV recap of the 2017 induction weekend is presented by State Farm Insurance agents of Louisiana, who will be acknowledged during the show. The star-studded class, inducted with festivities conducted June 22-24, features jockey Calvin Borel, Southeastern basketball legend C. A. Core, coaches D-D Breaux of LSU gymnastics and Raymond Didier (championship baseball coach at UL-Lafayette, LSU and Nicholls), football stars Eddie Kennison of LSU and Super Bowl champ Ed Reed, baseball great Juan Pierre from Alexandria, and, golf major champion David Toms of Shreveport. Longtime basketball administrator Sue Donohoe was this year’s Dave Dixon Award winner. Veteran New Orleans broadcaster Jim Henderson and former UL Lafayette sports Information director and writer/broadcaster Dan McDonald of Lafayette were this year’s winners of the Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism. Under LSWA rules, all three are also considered Hall of Famers. Back for the 15th consecutive year as hosts of the broadcast are CST’s Lyn Rollins, the "Voice" of the Hall of Fame and Kent Lowe, past president of the LSWA. Kate Adams and Christopher LeCoq will provide color and context to some of the weekend’s other events, presented as part of a 30-minute ceremony pre-show. Frank Hillyard is the producer and editor of the induction ceremony. ‘It is hard to believe that this is the 15th year that we have been able to bring to people the induction ceremony of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame," said Lowe. "The people that have been inducted on our air is just a small sample of Louisiana’s rich sports history and I hope in our 30-minute pre-show people around the south will get to see what a great city Natchitoches is and how the Hall of Fame and the people here work so well together." Included in the highlights will be the La Capital Federal Credit Union Opening Press Conference and Reception at the Hall of Fame and a brand-new Front Street Block Party inside and outside The Landing Restaurant. The show also includes action from the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans kids’ clinic along with a special segment spotlighting Chris Brown, the official Hall of Fame artist, showing inductees their portraits at the Hall of Fame museum. Besides Friday’s opening show, the telecast will be seen on Cox Sports Television in July at the following times (all Central Daylight): Sunday, July 9, 6:30 p.m. There will be 13 more showings of the broadcast during the month of August. Cox Sports Television can be seen in 14 states coast-to-coast. In Louisiana, CST is available on cable systems in Abbeville, Acadia, Alexandria, Anacoco, Assumption, Baker, Bastrop, Baton Rouge, Belle Chasse, Blanchard, Boyce, Bossier City and Butte Larose.
