Cross Country: Cajuns Finish Second Overall At McNeese Cowboy StampedeLAKE CHARLES – Dylan Heck and Logan LaGarde each posted top-15 performances with Hailey Hesterman finishing 22nd overall to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns cross country team on Saturday at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex. With the majority of the Ragin’ Cajuns top runners on the men’s and women’s side not competing, Heck and LaGarde paced Louisiana to a second-place finish in the men’s 4-mile race. The Ragin’ Cajuns scored 79 points to finish behind team champion McNeese (15) with Houston Baptist (84), Grambling (94) and Northwestern State (105) finishing in the top five. Heck covered the 4-mile course in 20:37.7 to finish 11th overall with LaGarde placing 13th (20:54.4). Freshman George Femmer finished 16th overall (21:00.2) for the Ragin’ Cajuns with freshman Andre Bellard finishing 24th (21:22.1), Regan Lemaire 28th (21:35.0) and Conner Meche 38th (22:25.5). Competing in the women’s five-kilometer event, Hesterman led a trio of Ragin’ Cajuns with 22nd-place finish in 19.33.6. Freshman Ally McCulley finished 31st overall for Louisiana (20:04.2) with Teresa Bruning finishing 36th (20:27.6). Louisiana will return to action on Oct. 14 when it competes at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open in Clinton, Miss.
