Baseball: Moore Named To Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Baseball Teams For Third Stra
Jeff Schneider, Associate Director of Athletics Communications
AUSTIN, Texas – For the third straight year, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball senior Dylan Moore has earned Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Team honors as he was named to the 2018 squad, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
"It’s quite an honor for Dylan to be one of two players in all of college baseball to earn Academic All-American honors in three straight years," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Awards like this are important because they focus not just on what you do on the field but also on your success in the classroom. We call them student-athletes for a reason. Dylan worked hard to make sure that his athletic talents never undermined his academic mission. That’s not an easy thing to do, but it is something that is very important to our program. We wish Dylan the best of luck as he continues his career in law school this fall."
Moore was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Second Team as a pitcher. In four years with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Moore posted a 4.00 GPA earning a degree in Political Science with an emphasis in pre-law. Moore was accepted to Law School at the University of Texas earlier this spring.
Moore was one of two players on the list to be named to the Academic All-American Teams for the third straight year joining Justin Jones of Georgia State. The Hughes Springs, Texas native was named to the first team in 2016 and the second team in 2017.
In his senior campaign, Moore posted a 4-3 record with a 5.04 ERA in 20. The right-hander notched 32 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched and holds both the program and Sun Belt career saves record with 38.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Team produced an average GPA of 3.90 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.97. The team includes 11 student-athletes with 4.0 GPA and two graduate students.
