Men’s Basketball: Washington Represents Ragin’ Cajuns On NABC Honors Court

Senior forward named to list for second time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball standout Bryce Washington was among a group of student-athletes from all collegiate divisions recognized as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced on Tuesday the 2017-18 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.
 
Washington, a New Orleans native, was named for the second straight year to the list that recognizes the talents and gifts possessed off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
 
The former St. Augustine High product averaged 10.4 points and 10.5 rebounds for Louisiana while earning first-team All-Sun Belt Conference and NABC All-District honors along with second-team All-Louisiana honors. The Lou Henson All-America selection finished his career as one of four players in both Ragin’ Cajuns and Sun Belt Conference history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds.
 
Washington scored in double figures 18 times with 21 games with double-digit rebounds and 13 double-doubles on the season. He grabbed a season-high 19 boards in the Ragin’ Cajuns SBC opener at Little Rock and finished among the active NCAA leaders in career rebounds (1,102), double-doubles (38), rebound average (8.1), and field goal percentage (.571).
 
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
 
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
