NASHVILLE – Senior Keeli Milligan (OF/2B, Vidor, Texas) of the 10th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball team was selected during the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch Draft Monday evening held at Acme Feed and Seed on Broadway in Nashville.

Milligan was the 25th pick overall in the NPF Draft and was chosen by the defending Cowles Cup champion USSSA Pride of Viera, Fla.

The left-handed speedster, who presently owns 140-plus career stolen bases, 150-plus career runs and 200-plus career hits, is the fourth NPF draft pick in Louisiana Softball history and the first since Lexie Elkins was drafted No. 1 overall in 2016.

"We are extremely excited about Keeli being drafted and to have the opportunity to continue her playing career after college," Louisiana Softball head coach Gerry Glasco said. "Her speed, and the immediate impact she can have on any game, is amazing and a thrill to watch.

"The USSSA Pride are the most successfully ran team in the NPF," Glasco remarked. "And we are beyond pleased to see her be part of a such a great organization."

Milligan is surging to the finish line in her collegiate senior season with Louisiana. She’s picked up five multiple-hit games since March 31, and during that time is batting .516 (16-for-31) with seven RBI.

A week ago she joined Dorsey Steamer as the only individuals in Ragin’ Cajuns history to reach 40 stolen bases. Now with 44 stolen bases, she has helped Louisiana break the team record for steals in a single season (currently at 129) and personally is eight swipes shy of surpassing Steamer’s record 51 which has stood since 1992.

Drafting an athlete gives an NPF affiliate team rights to that athlete for two full seasons. Due to NCAA regulations, an active college senior-athlete may not sign with her respective franchise until their 2019 college season is over.

National Pro Fastpitch is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. The league, created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, has operated since 1997 under the names of Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women’s Pro Softball League (WPSL). NPF is the Official Development Partner of Major League Baseball in the category of women’s fastpitch softball since 2002.
