BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jack Tolson recorded a 2-under-par 70 and posted his second consecutive top-20 finish of the season while the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golf team posted the second-lowest team score of the day to finish in a tie for sixth place as the Graeme McDowell Invitational concluded on Tuesday at Greystone Golf and Country Club.

Hudson Dubinski tied his lowest round as a Ragin’ Cajuns, firing a 3-under-par 69, as Louisiana finished with a team score of 6-under 282 in the final round to finish at 882 for the 54-hole tournament and move up six spots into a tie with Sun Belt Conference rival Troy.

Tolson recorded his eighth top-20 finish of the season after capping off an impressive 36 holes on the par-72, 7,299-yard course. The senior, who finished in a tie for 20th place at the season-opening Lone Star Invitational last week, recorded a combined 16 birdies during the two-day event – the second most among the 100 golfers in the event.

Starting on the back nine, Tolson recorded four birdies and recorded a 3-under 33 before adding a pair of birdies on the front nine to finish in a tie for 14th-place at 215.

Four of the five members in Louisiana’s lineup posted scores of par or lower with Charlie Flynn shooting an even-par 72 with newcomer Hunter Hammett carding a 1-under 71. Flynn finished in a tie for 42nd place (76-75-72-223) with Hammett finishing tied for 47th (77-76-71-224).

Peter Hinnant (73-78-79-230) finished in a tie for 69th overall for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Dubinski (78-84-69-231) vaulting 22 spots up the leaderboard – highlighted an eagle on the par-5, 532-yard No. 2 – to finish in a tie for 74th.

No. 19-ranked North Florida maintained its first-day lead to claim team medalist honors, finishing with a team score of 850 and finishing one stroke ahead of host UAB. Arkansas State (854), No. 17 South Carolina (865) and Memphis (867) rounded out the top five in the field with Louisiana, Troy, Chattanooga (885), Southern Miss (888) and Western Kentucky (892) rounding out the top 10.

First-day co-leader Linus Lo of Western Kentucky fired a 3-under 69 to claim medalist honors.

Louisiana will return to action Oct. 6-8 when it travels to Carrollton, Texas to compete in the three-day, 54-hole Maridoe Intercollegiate, hosted by North Texas.

LOUISIANA HEAD COACH THEO SLIMAN QUOTES
On the team’s overall performance in the third round
"Very proud and impressed with the team’s grit and determination that they displayed in today’s final round. After yesterday’s 36-hole performance, we found ourselves with our backs up against the wall, and stepped up and collectively put together a solid final round that was direly needed. There is a strong belief in the talent level amongst this program and today’s final round validated that."

On the play of Hunter Hammett and Hudson Dubinski
"It was very exciting to see Hunter post his first sub-par round as a Ragin’ Cajun. It was equally exciting to see the resilience in Hudson leading the charge with a 69 after his disappointing finish to yesterday."

On Jack Tolson’s play and leadership
"Saw some maturity and leadership out of Jack for the second week in a row. Jack has displayed a disciplined mindset and that is something you expect out of your senior leadership. He had adversity hit him during the round, yet he was able to persevere and find himself with a top-15 performance."
