Soccer: Missed Opportunities Hurt Louisiana at 1-0 Match at CCULouisiana wraps up weekend trip on Sunday at Georgia Southern
CONWAY, S.C. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Soccer team sent six of its nine shots on-goal, but Ky Hudson stopped all six attempts while Megan Brouse’s goal in the 25th minute lifted Coastal Carolina to a 1-0 victory in a Sun Belt Conference match on Friday at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
Louisiana (5-8-0, 2-3-0 Sun Belt) held a 9-5 advantage in shots in the contest, including a 3-1 lead in the first half. Alyssa Abbott, Hailly Waterhouse and Rachel Sutter each attempted shots in the opening half for the Ragin’ Cajuns, who were looking for their first-ever win in Conway.
Coastal Carolina (4-6-2, 2-3-1 Sun Belt) scored the match’s lone goal as Mackenzie Cherry picked up a ball near midfield, dribbled about 15 yards downfield and sent a well-placed thry ball to Brouse, who would score her third goal of the season.
Lucy Ortiz, Carol Rodriguez, Ally White and Karleen Bedre each sent in shot attempts on-goal for Louisiana in the second half, but was stopped by Hudson.
Libby Harper stopped Sarah Allen’s point-blank attempt in the 86th minute to record her lone save of the match for Louisiana.
Louisiana will return to action when on Sunday when it faces Georgia Southern (9-4-2, 4-1-1 Sun Belt) in an 11 a.m. CT contest in Statesboro, Ga.
