Football: Louisiana football coach Billy Napier calls to reschedule Sun Belt Championship vs. CCU

Erik Hall, The Advertiser, Dec. 18, 2020

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football head coach Billy Napier still wants to play Coastal Carolina.

Saturday's Sun Belt Conference Championship game between the Coastal Carolina and Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football teams was canceled Thursday night.

Louisiana sent a tweet a 9:41 p.m. announcing the cancelation.

Then 44 minutes later, Napier was asking that it be rescheduled instead of canceled.

At 10:25 p.m. Thursday night, Napier said in a tweet, "Surely we are going to reschedule this game, right...?"

UL Ragin' Cajuns radio play-by-play announcer Jay Walker liked Napier's suggestion.

"I vote yes," Walker said while quote tweeting Napier's tweet.

CCU, ranked No. 12 in the Amway Coaches Poll, is 11-0 overall and 8-0 in the Sun Belt. Most recently, Coastal Carolina beat Troy University 42-38 on Dec. 12.

The No. 18-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the Sun Belt. On Dec. 4, UL beat Appalachian State 24-21.
