Hunt and his family evacuated Newton County after Hurricane Rita hit east Texas in 2005. He told Draft Network that he spent the next two years sleeping with five of his cousins at his grandma's four-bedroom house.

The family then endured another disaster after the family home burned to the ground in December 2010, according to Draft Network.
Everyone was safe and moved to Forth Worth. Hunt didn't plant roots, and the family moved back to Wiergate and he attended Burkville High School.
