Men's Tennis: Louisiana Recruiting Class Receives Additional High Marks

Tennis Recruiting Network Tabs the 2019-20 Group No. 5 in its Mid-Major Rankings

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis will be armed with one of the nation's top recruiting classes entering the 2019-20 campaign as head coach Mark Jeffrey and the squad seek to build off an historic 21-win season.

Tennis Recruiting Network, a site which operates in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, announced on June 10 its Top 25 ranking of the recruiting classes from the mid-major programs with Louisiana listed among the Top 5.

The Ragin' Cajuns, ranked No. 5 in the listing, were the only team from the Sun Belt Conference listed in the select group.

It's the highest mark for the program since the record-No. 2 positioning in 2012.

It's also another lofty acclaim for the efforts of Jeffrey and assistant Luc Godin, which back in March received a No. 26 national ranking from TRN.

Louisiana's four-man recruiting class includes Bulgarian native Ivailo KeremedchievStefan Gazo of Serbia, Karlo Kajin of Croatia and Yi Jui Lo from Taiwan.

"I just want to congratulate our coaches and players on an amazing accomplishment," Jeffrey said. "I want to thank Ivailo, Stefan, Karlo, and Yi for believing in the University of Louisiana, both athletically and academically. We are very proud to be a Ragin' Cajun today.

"With a Top 26 ranking among 240 total Division I programs, and now being rated fifth among some 180 mid-major programs, this places us in the Top 2 percent nationwide."

Louisiana marched to a 21-10 record in Spring 2019, the most wins recorded since 1986. The squad is set to return All-Sun Belt singles performers Jan Galka (first team) and Jamie Fraser (second team), along with Pearse Dolan who was an All-Sun Belt doubles honoree.

The first opportunity to see the Ragin' Cajuns in action this fall comes on Sept. 27 in the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic at Cajun Courts.
