LAFAYETTE – After helping Louisiana's offense to a 40-hit, 28-run weekend at Coastal Carolina, junior Todd Lott has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's (LSWA) Hitter of the Week, the organization announced on Monday.
Lott joins shortstop Hayden Cantrelle and right-handed pitcher Brandon Young as the only Ragin' Cajuns to be recognized by the LSWA this season. It is also the first weekly LSWA honor of Lott's career.
The Jacksonville, Florida, native led the team with nine hits, seven RBI, an .824 slugging percentage and five runs scored en route to the team taking two of three games over the Chanticleers in Conway.
In Game Two of the series, he hit his sixth home run of the season, the fourth most on the team this year, and was responsible for a career-high four RBI.
He now leads the team with a .344 average (56-for-163) and 37 RBI, while ranking second on the team with his hit total (56). He also leads the team in Sun Belt play with a .402 average (37-for-92), 29 RBI and a .652 slugging percentage.
