Soccer: Troy Edges Ragin' Cajuns in SBC Opener

TROY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team fell 1-0 to Troy in a hard fought Sun Belt Conference opener on Friday night at the Troy Soccer Complex.
 
The loss drops Louisiana to 1-6-2 overall and 0-1-0 in league play, while the Trojans move to 2-6-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in the SBC.
 
Sophomore keeper Victoria Ryan posted six saves on the night, while senior Sarah Kozlowski notched a team-best two shots.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Ragin' Cajuns held their opponent scoreless in the first half for the fifth time this season as the game remained goalless through the first 45 minutes.
 
Troy got on the board in the 52nd minute when Natalie Melillo sent a ball from outside the 18-yard box into the upper left corner of the net to make the score 1-0.
 
The Cajuns held the Trojans without a shot in the final 37 minutes of the game, but were unable to find an equalizer.

Louisiana returns home on Friday, September 21 for a 7 p.m. match against Texas State in the first of three straight home contests. The Ragin' Cajuns close out the weekend
