Men's Basketball: SBC Champion Cajuns Honored At Men's Basketball Banquet

LAFAYETTE – The Sun Belt Conference champion Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team held its annual award dinner on Monday at City Club River Ranch as the players, coaches and fans celebrated the Ragin' Cajuns historic 27-win season.
 
Senior guard Frank Bartley was named the MVP Award which was presented by Louisiana Director of Athletics, Dr. Bryan Maggard. Bartley, a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, was also the recipient of the team's Offensive Player of the Year Award after leading the Ragin' Cajuns in scoring in 2017-18 and becoming the ninth player in school history to reach the 1,000-point career mark in two seasons.
 
Senior forward Bryce Washington was selected for the second consecutive as the Rebounder of the Year after finishing as the Sun Belt Conference leader in rebounds for the second straight season and finishing as one of four players in both school and SBC history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in a career.
 
JaKeenan Gant earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award after leading the Sun Belt Conference in blocked shots and finished as the league's Newcomer and Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Senior guard Johnathan Stove was the recipient for the second consecutive year of the Beryl Shipley Leadership Award with sophomore Mason Aucoin earning the Academic Achievement Award.
