Track & Field: Cajuns Wrap Up Successful Weekend Hosting Louisiana Classics

Baudoin posts 10th-best mark in pole vault for Cajuns

LAFAYETTE – Sven Glueck and Angus Sinclair each claimed top honors in the men's high jump with Lindsay LaGarde and Hailey Hesterman producing a late charge to finish 1-2 in the women's 1,500-meter run to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team on the final day of the Louisiana Classics on Saturday at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
Kyle Baudoin earned a second-place finish in the men's pole vault with Tyler Hughes finishing third overall in the 110-meter hurdles as Louisiana wrapped up its lone home meet of the season on a positive note.
"Last night started off very well for us with three (NCAA) regional qualifiers," head coach Lon Badeaux said. "We came back today and started off with Kyle in the pole vault, which should get him in the regional, our guys in the 800 ran really well, our high jumpers did really well in the end.
"It was a pretty good meet for the throwers, jumpers and distance runners. We still have some work to do with the sprinters. We're waiting for some runners to get healthy after indoor. It's still early and we'll get them going."
Glueck and Sinclair each cleared the bar at 6-7 ½ to finish in a three-way tie for first place for Louisiana with sophomore Damon Guidry finishing in a fifth-place tie after posting an identical mark.
LaGarde, Hesterman and Courtney Musgrove each led a charge down the stretch for Louisiana with LaGarde crossing the finish line in 4:45.29 with Hesterman less than a second behind at 4:46.04. Musgrove earned a fourth-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns, crossing the finish line in 4:47.47.    
Baudoin led a group of four Ragin' Cajuns to top-nine finishes in the pole vault after posting a season-best mark of 16-8 to finish second behind Southeastern Louisiana's Devin King. Matt Wilson earned a fourth-place finish for Louisiana, clearing the bar at 15-8 ¼ with Chandler Mixon finishing sixth (15-2 ¼) and Matthew Standridge ninth (14-8 ¼).
Hughes, making his 2018 debut in the 110-meter hurdles, clocked a time of 14.54 overall to finish third for Louisiana with teammate Kameron Cummings finishing seventh (15.13). Stanley Limoh (1:52.55) and Jonathan Kimutai (1:53.66) finished fifth and eighth overall in the men's 800-meters for the Ragin' Cajuns with Andre Bellard finishing fifth in the men's 5,000-meter run (16:11.56) with Conner Meche seventh (16:17.36).
In the men's shot put, Shaquille Singuineau posted a mark of 52-10 to finish fourth overall for Louisiana with Zach Lewis producing a sixth-place finish after a toss of 51-0 ¾. The Ragin' Cajuns placed a pair of throwers in the top-seven in the discus as Richard Delphin finished sixth overall (152-6) with Anthony Taylor placing seventh (152-5).
Senior Taylor Walker recorded a pair of top-10 finishes for Louisiana as she opened the day with a ninth-place performance in the long jump (16-4 ¼) before finishing fourth in the triple jump (38-0 ¾). Lindsey Darby earned a seventh-place finish in the triple jump for the Ragin' Cajuns after posting a mark of 36-7 with Frankie Griffin finishing fourth in the high jump (5-5 ¾) and Maliya Crouch eighth in the discus (125-9).
Louisiana had two athletes earn top-seven finishes in the women's 400-meter hurdles as Victoria Wayne finished fifth (1:04.14) and Vanessa Joseph seventh (1:05.75).
Louisiana will return to action with a pair of meets from March 29-April 1. A select group of Ragin' Cajuns athletes will compete in the prestigious NIKE Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas with the remainder of the team competing in San Marcos, Texas at the Bobcat Relays.

Track & Field: Cajuns Off To Successful Start At Annual Louisiana Classics

Basic claims javelin crown in 2018 debut; Robinson, Hodges claim steeplechase crown

LAFAYETTE – Tisay Woodhouse posted the second-best throw in school history in the women's hammer throw while Bartul Basic claimed the men's javelin with the third-best throw in school history to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team during the first day of the annual Louisiana Classics at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
The meet concludes on Saturday at 10 a.m., with field events with running events set for 2:30 p.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Woodhouse posted a personal-best throw of 168 feet, 3 inches to finish seventh overall for the Ragin' Cajuns. In the men's hammer throw, Dominique Williams posted a mark of 164-8 to finish fifth for Louisiana.
Freshman Mackenzie Marze posted the third-best throw in school history in the women's javelin after finishing second overall for Louisiana with a throw of 150-11. Claire Meyers earned a fifth-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns (135-7) with Madison Meche placing sixth (125-6).
Basic, the two-time defending Sun Belt Conference champion, made his 2018 debut a successful one after posting the second-best throw in the country (232-9). The senior led a trio of Ragin' Cajuns to top-six finishes as Hunter Stelly placed fifth in his debut (207-6) with Sean Bouzigard sixth (189-5).
Louisiana placed three athletes in the top-five in the women's pole vault with Alexa Johnson finishing third (12-0 ½), Bailey Broussard fourth (11-6 ½) and Kimberly Rushford fifth (11-6 ½).
The Ragin' Cajuns claimed individual titles in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Beau Robinson claimed the men's title (9:08.86) with Claire Hodges claiming the women's crown (11:05.97). Regan Lemaire earned a sixth-place finish for Louisiana (10:03.21) with Dylan Heck placing eighth (10:14.30).
Kemondrick Walter earned an eighth-place time for the Ragin' Cajuns in the men's 200-meter dash after posting a time of 21.88.
