Women's Basketball: Simone Fields Named To SBC All-Conf Third Team + Cajuns All-time SBC Honors

David Collins, Athletics Communications Assistant

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns senior forward Simone Fields, today, has been named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Third Team as a part of the SBC's post-season awards.
It's the second time she's received post season honors, having been named to the 2017 SBC second team and it follows up her 2018 preseason SBC first team honors.

FIELDS' SEASON IN REVIEW: The San Antonio, Texas, native currently leads the Cajuns in scoring (9.6 ppg), field goal percentage (.474) and rebounding (5.0 rpg) and she's been a force off the bench all season long.  During conference play Fields has led the Cajuns in scoring (9.8 ppg) and she's second in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (.459).
Against Texas State on Feb. 15, at the Cajundome, Fields recorded a double-double putting in 16 points and 11 rebounds.  She scored at least 20 points twice this season, scoring a game high 25 points against McNeese in the Cajuns triple-overtime win at the Cajundome on Dec. 3, 2017 and she recorded 22 points in Atlanta, Ga., against Georgia State coming off the bench to help the Cajuns get a big win on the road.

FIELDS RANKS AMONG THE ALL-TIME CAJUNS: Fields will finish in among some of Louisiana's best to ever come through Lafayette.  She'll finish first in games played (129), third in field goal percentage (.522), fifth in field goals made (.519), fifth in career rebounds (683) and she's three points away from moving into seventh all-time in points scored (1,261).  In her sophomore season she shot .530 percent from the field, which gives her the eighth best single-season field goal percentage.  And she followed that up in her junior season where she shot .542 and that is the seventh best single-season field goal percentage in school history.
