Softball: Cajuns Add JUCO All-American Holland to 2018 Roster

Glasco Action 11.21.17

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball head coach Gerry Glasco has added All-American junior college infielder Brittany Holland of Central Arizona College to the 2018 Ragin' Cajuns roster.
An NJCAA first team All-American during the 2017 season, Holland was one of the most productive freshmen on offense in the country. She led Central Arizona with a .471 batting average, 15 home runs and 81 RBI.
The Gilbert, Ariz., product transfers to Louisiana as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.
"Brittany brings us an athlete with an extremely high ceiling due to her tremendous size and talent," Glaso said. "She excels on both sides of the ball, both offensively and defensively."
In addition to All-American accolades, Holland received first team all-conference and all-region honors from the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC). She helped guide Central Arizona to the Region 1 championship and a quarterfinal finish at the NJCAA College World Series.
Holland prepped at Mesquite (Ariz.) High School where she played on the varsity team all four years. She was named team MVP both her junior and senior year and was a 2016 inductee into the school's Hall of Fame.
Her production rose each year of her high school career, culminating with a .400-plus average, 40-plus hits and 30-plus RBI each of her final two seasons. As a senior, she was awarded all-state honors and selected to the state's all-star team.
"We will look for Brittany to continue to blossom offensively and develop into an elite power hitter over the coming three springs," Glasco mentioned. "She is an example of an athlete that has developed later in high school and the current early recruiting practices caused colleges to easily miss."
Holland played for Arizona Hotshots Gold on the travel ball circuit.
Her father, Brad, played collegiate baseball for and coached with Ragin' Cajuns head baseball coach Tony Robichaux at McNeese, was a Division I head coach (at ULM) and is currently a scout in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
"She has grown up around the diamond," Glasco remarked. "Her mentality and determination will be a great addition to our team."
The 2018 season marks the first for Louisiana with head coach Gerry Glasco, formerly the associate head coach at Auburn, Texas A&M and Georgia, who was named the fourth head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns on Nov. 20, 2017.
Season tickets, beginning at $101 for outfield seating, are currently on sale and can be purchased by phone at (337) 265-2357, online at RaginCajuns.com using Account Manager, or by visiting the Cajundome Box Office.
