Women's Tennis: Cajuns' Weekend Finishes At ITA Southern Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. – Louisiana's women's tennis team's weekend at the 2017 ITA Southern Regionals came to an end today after having their two remaining women knocked out of their respective brackets.
Freshman Dana Radovanovic won her quarterfinals match of singles B draw, before falling in the semifinals.  While the Cajuns duo of Radovanovic and fellow freshman Floriane Picaut won their match in the consolation doubles round of 16 before losing in the next round to give the Ragin' Cajuns two wins on the day.
Overall the Cajuns had a solid trip at the regionals, with three wins from Radovanovic and a doubles win from Picaut and Radovanovic.

HOW IT HAPPENED (B Draw Singles Quarterfinals): After winning two matches the previous day Radovanovic had qualified for the quarterfinals in the B draw.  She was matched up with Southern Miss.'s Claudia Castella with a chance to move into the semifinals.
The first set just about went the distance, with Radovanovic pulling away in the end while the second set was wrapped up by Radovanovic with a bit more ease as she took the match in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 to head into the semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED (B Draw Singles Semifinals): In those semifinals Radovanovic faced off against UAB's Sophie Dodds and Radovanovic fell in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.  It was Radovanovic's second three set match off the weekend and she battled back to make it happen.
She lost the first set, but she didn't let it phase her and she dug deep to flip the score and take the second set.  In the third set, Dodds pulled away late to take the match and it ended Radovanovic's deep run in the B draw bracket.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Main Draw Singles Consolation Round Of 16): Picaut took on Troy's Efriliya Herlina in their round of 16 match up.  Picaut put up a great fight but she couldn't come away with the win losing in three sets 6-7, 6-3, 10-8.
Picaut came out and battled through a contested first set, pulling away at the end to win 7-6.  Herlina returned in the second set to take that one 6-3, setting up a third set 10-point breaker.  Picaut stayed in the set until the end, but Herlina took the final few points to take the set and the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles Consolation Round Of 16): Louisiana's pair of Picaut and Radovanovic faced off with South Alabama's duo of Martins and Palmen in their round of 16 doubles consolation match.
The Cajuns' duo came out strong and took control of the match from the start, they never gave it back and they won the match 8-3 to move into the quarterfinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles Consolation Quarterfinals): In that quarterfinals match up the Cajuns pair took on Troy's grouping of Ohta and Karaky.
Picaut and Radovanovic's weekend came to an end with a 8-2 loss to the Troy doubles team.

UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to the court with one last trip in the fall schedule when they head to Southeastern Louisiana for the 2017 George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational starting on Friday, Nov. 3 and going through the weekend until Sunday, Nov.5.
