Volleyball to Host Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday
The intrasquad match begins at 10:30 a.m. inside Earl K. Long Gym and is free for all fans
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball team will step onto the court in a public setting for the first time on Saturday, Aug. 19 with the program's annual Red-White Scrimmage at 10:30 a.m. inside Earl K. Long Gym.
Admission is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
The 2017 Ragin' Cajuns squad will split into two teams for the intrasquad match which will consist of three sets. It's an opportunity for fans to get their first glimpse of the squad prior to the home-opening Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic set for Sept. 1-2.
Following the event fans will be able to meet the team and take pictures with the players.
Earl K. Long Gym is located at 500 E. St. Mary Blvd., on UL Lafayette's main campus. Parking is available in both lots surrounding the gym.
Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot enters her 10th season as head volleyball coach at Louisiana. The Ragin' Cajuns return 13 players from the 2016 squad highlighted by preseason All-Sun Belt selections Jessica Bartczyszyn and Stacey Reilly. A talented group of eight newcomers, which features Lafayette-area standouts Avery Breaux (St. Thomas More HS) and Lexi Hebert (Teurlings Catholic HS), complete the roster.
