Tribute to Louisiana Coaches: Faulkinberry & Girouard Foundations Activated-Cole,Shipley,Stokely Up

To view, click on the "Tribute to Louisiana Coaches" (Banner on the right side of the News Box), then the name of the coach. It provides special recognition of our former coaches in a unique manner - fond memories written by her former players and support staff, and others who know them professionally.

The Tribute to Coach Bobby Banna is near completion, while the tributes to Faulkinberry and Girouard recently had their foundations activated. More LMs from their former athletes are requested and encouraged. This is an opportunity for each former athlete to write their unique page of SLI/USL/UL athletic history - as no one else can.

Former athletes of Coach Robert "Bob" Cole, Coach Beryl Shipley, and Coach Nelson Stokley are in the design and construction phases of the tribute for their coach. LMs from those athletes are encouraged.

Three sections comprise the AN tribute:  Section I is the autobiography/biography and coaching accomplishments; Section II is designed by the AN with links to other postings on the AN; and Section III, the "heart" of the tribute,  contains the LMs written by former players and support groups.

The foundations are only the beginning of a tribute. While Sections I & II are usually completed, Section III is a work-in-progress and opened-ended with space for more LMs. Former players and support group members are encouraged to consider documenting their memories of their coach and be part of the tributes being constructed.

Appreciation is extended to each person who submitted a Living Memorial and/or who donated to the design, construction, maintenance, and updating of the tribute. The tribute was only made possible through your participation.

Participants in each tribute become owners of the tribute by virtue of their LM and/or their donation. It really belongs to them,  without filters between them and their beloved coach.

Construction beyond the foundation of the tribute will continue as former players and support staff are encouraged to participate by emailing your Living Memorial (LM) to
athleticnetwork@louisiana.edu

Further appreciation is extended to John Dugas and David Faber, Athletic Department Staff, and Ethan Duhon, AN Student Worker, for their technology efforts in this new area of unique and special historical preservation on the Athletic Network.

Please email
athleticnetwork@louisiana.edu for more information about the Tributes to Louisiana Coaches.

Peace, Dr. Ed Dugas
