Baseball: Arrighetti Named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week

The sophomore didn’t allow an earned run in 8.1 innings of work in two appearances last week

LAFAYETTE – After his dominant performances against Louisiana Tech and Rice, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball right-handed pitcher Spencer Arrighetti has been named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Arrighetti was tremendous in his first start in a Louisiana uniform, posting 6.2 innings of one-hit baseball against Louisiana Tech, who is hitting .329 as a team this year. The Katy, Texas, native even flirted with a no-hitter against the Bulldogs, not allowing a hit through six innings pitched.

Arrighetti also picked up a save in his second appearance of the week against Rice, sealing a 5-3 win for the Cajuns.

Using his outings this past week, Arrighetti is now the conference's ERA leader (0.00), tied for the sixth-most strikeouts (13) in the conference and is letting opposing batters hit (.037) against him.

Louisiana is back in action on Tuesday night against Louisiana Tech for first pitch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. at M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park.
