Tennis: Women Wrap Up Season With Loss At Arkansas State; Men - With Loss At UTA

JONESBORO, Ark. – Louisiana Women's Tennis (6-14, 1-8 SBC), in its season finale, lost 4-0 at Arkansas State (5-12, 2-8 SBC) in a Sunday morning Sun Belt Conference matchup at the Jonesboro Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): Arkansas State began the match by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  Louisiana's freshmen duo of Ai Noa Fabre and Hoda Habib lost at No. 1 to the Red Wolves' duo of Anita Detlava and Masip, 6-0.

The Red Wolves took the next match at No. 2, with a 6-0 win by Shelby King and Shannon O'Brien over junior Milena Achlamov and sophomore Dana Radovanovic.  The win gave Arkansas State a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Louisiana would not snag a win in singles, with Arkansas State taking the matches at No. 1 through No. 3.  At No. 2 singles, Radovanovic lost to King in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, which gave Arkansas State a 2-0 lead.

Despite losing the next two singles matches, Louisiana did not go down quietly with both of the remaining matches to finish going three sets.  At No. 3, Habib took the first set, but could not hold off Detlava who came away with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, three-set win.

Arkansas State's clinching win came in a three-set marathon at No. 1, where sophomore Floriane Picaut put up a strong fight for the Ragin' Cajuns, taking the first set and pushing the second set to a tiebreaker, before losing to Pornpawee Pramethong.  The final score in the three-set battle was 5-7, 7-6, 6-4, and despite Picaut's great efforts, Arkansas State locked up the 4-0 win.
