Baseball: Louisiana Falls to New Orleans, 10-3

LAFAYETTE – Nine New Orleans runs across the first three innings put Louisiana into a hole it was unable to climb out of as the Privateers took Tuesday night's midweek contest, 10-3, over the Ragin' Cajuns at Russo Park.
The Privateers' run total marked the second time this season that the Ragin' Cajuns (6-10) have allowed 10 runs in a game, the first coming in their 16-10 victory over McNeese State on March 6.
Sophomore Jonathan Windham finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI in his seventh-straight start at third base. Hayden Cantrelle and Brennan Breaux each added two hits in the defeat.
In relief, Connor Cooke allowed just two runs and three hits in 5.0 innings of action, while striking out five batters. Blake Schultz, who started the game, took the loss and fell to 2-1 on the year.
New Orleans (10-5) got things going early, scoring four runs in the first with the help of two hits and two Louisiana errors. The Ragin' Cajuns were able to cut that advantage to 4-1 when a Breaux single to right center in the bottom of the opening frame scored Cantrelle.
The Privateers scored the next six runs in the contest before a Windham single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Jordan Wiley and Hunter Kasuls to produce what was ultimately the final score of 10-3.
Louisiana wraps up a five-game homestand on Wednesday night when it welcomes Southern Miss to Russo Park. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on Cox Sports Television (CST) and ESPN.
Single game and season tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now and can be purchased here.
