Summer Graduation: A record number of students graduated from UL this summer

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette conferred a record number of graduates during its summer ceremony Friday.

According to a press release from the school, 343 degrees were awarded. That’s 245 bachelor’s degrees, 86 master’s degrees and 12 doctoral degrees.

On Friday, posthumous doctorates in educational leadership were awarded to the families of Sheila Guidry, who died Aug. 20, 2016, and Brad Wedlock, who died in a crash April 3.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Corey Saft, a University professor and practicing architect.

“Your time at the University has been a sort of dry run for work and life … and these are the skills that will underlie everything,” Saft told graduates.
