Softball: Orgeron Named SBC Player of the Week
For the second time this season, Christi Orgeron has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. She previously earned the honor the week of March 8.
The sophomore slugger led the Cajuns over the weekend after a three-game sweep of Western Kentucky. She batted .571 in the conference opening series and posted a staggering 1.429 slugging percentage. Orgeron also single-handedly lifted the Cajuns to two wins on Saturday’s double header. Trailing 3-4 in the sixth inning Orgeron hit a two-run home run to give UL the lead in the 7-4 victory. In the second game of the day, she led things off with another two-run shot to open up a 2-0 lead as the Cajuns cruised to an 8-1 win. Western Kentucky then proceeded to walk her in four of her next six plate appearances. She finished the weekend with five RBI and a .750 on-base percentage. It is Orgeron’s fourth career honor from the league. Orgeron and the rest of the Ragin’ Cajuns softball team will step out of conference play on Tuesday and take on Houston in a double header. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at Lamson Park.
