EWA BEACH, Hawaii – A day after tying his worst recorded round for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Men’s Golf team, senior Micah Goulas responded with his absolute best.

The New Iberia, La., native carded a career-low round of 4-under par 68 and Louisiana made one of the biggest climbs up the leaderboard to conclude the second round of the inaugural Hoakalei Country Club Invitational on Tuesday.

Louisiana recorded a team score of 3-under 285 to move up five spots to 12th place at 5-over 581 after 36 holes in the 54-hole tournament that will wrap up on Wednesday. The Ragin’ Cajuns will tee off at 8 a.m. (HDT) and will be paired with Sam Houston State, UTSA and Loyola Marymount.

Goulas, who carded an 80 during Monday’s opening round, played near flawless golf during his second turn on the par-72, 7,248-yard course. Recording five birdies on the day, Goulas started his round with a birdie at No. 15 before recording his only blemish – a bogey at the par-4, No. 16 – before closing out the back nine with par at both No. 17 and 18.

A birdie at No. 1 put Goulas back below par before recording birdies at the par-3, No. 6 and at Nos. 12 and 13.

Charlie Flynn rebounded from a pair of bogeys to open the day for Louisiana by posting four birdies in the round on his way to a 1-under par 71. Hudson Dubinski followed up his even-par round for the Ragin’ Cajuns on Monday with a 1-under 71, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 537-yard No. 9.

Hunter Hammett posted a 3-over 75 for Louisiana with Jack Tolson posting a 4-over 76.

No. 10-ranked Louisville erased a 15-shot deficit after the first round to surge up four spots on the leaderboard and into a tie for the lead with East Tennessee after 36 holes. The Cardinals, who will compete at the 35th annual Louisiana Classics set for March 16-17 at Oakbourne Country Club, fired a team score of 11-under 277 to finish at 562 after the second round with first-day leader Ole Miss – ranked No. 41 nationally – two shots back at 564. ETSU, ranked No. 32 nationally, posted a 2-under 286 to move into a tie for the lead with San Diego (567) and Nevada (571) rounding out the top five.

Cal State-Fullerton (572) was sixth overall in the 20-team field with Marquette (573), Missouri (573), Sam Houston State (575), Loyola Marymount (578) and UTSA (578) rounding out the top 10.

ETSU’s Shiso Go (66-70-136) and Harrison Kingsley (69-67-136) of San Diego finished as co-leaders after the second round with three golfers one stroke back. First-day leader Charlie Miller of Ole Miss posted a 5-over 77 to fall into a tie for 19th place.
