Former University of Louisiana baseball standout Jonathan Lucory made his return to the Milwaukee Brewers last week and is off to a hot start in his first full season of Major League Baseball.

Lucroy, the No.1 catcher for the Brewers, missed the first two weeks of the MLB season due to a fractured pinkie finger in spring training.

The Eustis, Fla., native rehabbed with Double-A Huntsville during the last two weeks of spring training. Lucroy remained with Huntsville until April 10 and was 4-for-11 with four RBIs and six walks in four games for the Stars.

Since re-joining the Brewers on April 13, Lucroy is hitting .364 (8×22) in six games, which ranks fifth among all Major League catchers.

He had a monster game against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 18, going 3-for-5 with a RBI and a walk. Two days later, Lucroy hit a home run off of former Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee.

Lucroy made his MLB debut last season on May 21, 2010 at Minnesota. Lucroy finished his rookie campaign with a .261 batting average (78×299), tallying five homers and 28 RBIs in 81 contests played. He held an on-base percentage of .308 and walked 20 times during 81 contests.

Lucroy was a three-year letterwinner at UL from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, he recorded 95 hits, the second highest single season total in Cajuns history. Lucroy was drafted by the Brewers in the third round of the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
